Fred Rowe, 66, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on May 20, 2015. He was born on February 18, 1949 in Idaho Falls, ID to Raymond Richard Rowe and Mabel Louise Rowe. Fred graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1967. He was in the first class to attend split sessions in Idaho Falls prior to dividing the schools between IF High School and Skyline High School. He attended Ricks College and graduated with an Associate of Science degree in 1970. Fred was very talented in music and played the guitar in several bands. He played the guitar with the Butter Rebellion and went on to record a vinyl record with the group in the Norman Petty Studio in Texas in the fall of 1968. They played in Denver and toured various other areas. He remained close friends with the members of the band throughout his life. Fred met Mary Baird and fell in love. They were married on August 27, 1971 in Idaho Falls, ID. A son, T.J. Rowe, was born to them on October 11, 1980. Fred was very proud of T.J. and his accomplishments. Fred was employed by the City of Idaho Falls for 40 years from January, 1975 to February, 2015. As foreman of the Idaho Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant, he earned recognition in his field. Fred started at the plant at the ground level and with hard work and self teaching served for 35 years as foreman. He was Idaho Operator of the Year in 1985 through the Water Pollution Control Federation. He held a Class IV Operators Certification and served on the city's Central Safety Committee. Fred was highly regarded for operator training in certification, upgrading, and mathematics. He was also a member of the Statewide Joint Training Committee. He retired with 40 years of service to the City of Idaho Falls on February 27, 2015 and looked forward to spending his summers at his 5th Wheel Trailer at Heise, golfing with his friends there and at the Idaho Falls courses. Fred is survived by his wife Mary and son T.J. Rowe. Surviving siblings are Carl (Linda) Williams of Olympia, WA and Brent (Dena) Rowe of Idaho Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings: Alton Williams, Donna Anderson, Maureen Mains, Joann Bird, Ralph Williams, and Jerry Williams. Services will be held at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street, on May 26, 2015 at 11:00 am. The family will visit with friends and family from 10:00 am to 10:45 am prior to the services.
