Gerald "Wayne" Gott, 73, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born December 16, 1940 to Vernon and Mabel (Clevenger) Gott in Little York, Illinois. On January 25, 1964 he married the love of his life Christine Carr in Monmouth, Illinois.
Our father loved this Country, automobiles, all things mechanical and carpentry. Dad served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1964 specializing as a heavy equipment operator. He and our loving mother worked side-by-side throughout their marriage providing for their family. They were self-employed for most of their married life in automotive body and mechanical repair. They owned an auto-body shop in Illinois and several service stations in Illinois, Florida, Missouri and Idaho--finally retiring from long-haul trucking in 2007. Dad was sought out for his talent in engine repair and welding which he taught at Carl Sandburg Junior College in Illinois. He also had a gift for the carpentry work that he learned from his father; putting his skills to work on countless remodeling jobs.
Wayne is survived by his wife Christine of 50 years, two daughters Kimberly (Lance) Anderson and Kelly Lively (Jim Wojciechowski) both of Idaho Falls; four grandchildren Tonya Rugg, Stormy Anderson, Kyla Lively and David Wayne Lively; four sisters Beverly (Weldon) Earp, Pauline (Tom) Miller, Sharon Eagle and Karen (Thomas) Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mabel, and his beloved brother, Roger (Mardi ) Gott. Wayne was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
