Gerald Jerry Leroy Irby Sr.

Gerald Leroy "Jerry" Irby, Sr., 76, of Payette, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21st at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. Jerry was born April 22, 1936 to John and Vera Irby. He grew up in Payette and graduated from Payette High School in 1955. He met and married Joan Ireland on July 23, 1957 and they enjoyed forty-six years together until in 2004 his beloved wife passed away. Jerry worked in many industries and in many locations, but home was always Payette. Jerry was in instructor at the AGC Joint Training School for several years in the 70's. He also spent numerous years employed by Wells and Davies. To provide for his family, he was employed in numerous construction jobs which took him away from Payette but he always returned. In 1988, Joan and he made the move to Winnemucca, NV, where Jerry worked in the mining industry. They enjoyed twelve years in Winnemucca, making a home and friends. When the mining industry waned in the 90's, Jerry retired and they moved back to their home in Payette. Jerry is survived by his three children, Gerald "Lee" Irby, of Payette, Tamie Buttram and spouse Tony, of Winnemucca, NV, and Sandra Weekes and spouse, Mark, of Letha, ID. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jerry's siblings, Tom Irby, Payette, Carol Bruce, Payette, and Louise Charters, Albany, OR also survive him.
