Geraldine Strom

Jerry was born July 14, 1926 in Idaho Falls to Raymond and Gladys Collins. She grew up on the family farm west of Idaho Falls and upon her fathers death became her mother's right hand, helping with more of the chores and keeping the family together. After graduation from Idaho Falls High School in 1944 she worked for Oden Machine Co. as a machinist aiding the World War II war effort. Jerry also worked as a secretary at the agricultural Soil Conservation Service. She also worked in that capacity for Ford Johnson Oil and retired from New Sweden Irrigation Co. in 1970, after serving as secretary for 20 years. On September 29th, 1945 she married her sweetheart and prince Kenneth Strom in the Trinity United Methodist Church in Idaho Falls. Ken and Jerry lived in various locations and in all that time never left each others side. 1962 was a banner year for mom and dad; they bought a farm in New Sweden. She was once again a farm hand before and after work. After selling the farm Jerry retired with Ken and started their last leg of life's long journey. One of Jerry's loves was her church and its members. She is survived by husband Ken of 66 years of marriage, son Bradley(Mary Ellen) Strom of Challis and daughter Brenda (David) Rhoades of Idaho Falls, sisters Marjorie Wheeler of Idaho Falls and Alice (Ray) Clovis of Boise, Idaho; 10 grand kids, 24 great grandkids, and 3 great great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, two premature sons, three brothers, Gilbert, Wilbur and Don Collins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 N. Water in Idaho Falls, with Reverend Brenda Sene officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls and at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. The family suggests memorial donations to Idaho Youth Ranch in Rupert, Idaho in lieu of flowers.Geraldine (Jerry) Strom 85, of Idaho Falls passed away peacefully at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Friday May 11th, 2012 from a stroke.
