Glenda Bauer, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at The Gardens Assisted Living Center in Rigby.
Glenda was born June 14, 1934, to Maurice H. Lowry and Marium McGee Lowry in Arco. Glenda grew up in the Arco area and spent some years in the Treasure Valley area. She graduated from Butte High in 1952.
Following graduation, she began her working career at the National Reactor Testing Station. While working at the site, she met the love of her life and lifetime companion of 62 years, Joe Bauer. They were married Dec. 20, 1952, at St Bernard's Catholic Church in Blackfoot, by then Father Constant M. Verhoeven. They moved to Manitowoc Wisconsin briefly before returning to their lifelong home of Idaho Falls.
Glenda was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 65 years. She enjoyed camping, skiing and after Joe's retirement from Westinghouse in 1990, traveling, especially to Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. There remain so many fond memories of their retirement years spent away from the winters of Idaho in Arizona with both old and new friends.
Glenda is survived by: her son Joe of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, daughters, Jill (Rudy) Villarreal of Henderson, Nevada, Jeni (Brian) Storms of Menan grandchildren, Emily (Andrew) Keim, Joseph Bauer, Jason Storms, Randall (Kelley) Storms, Manuel Villarreal, Tony Villarreal, and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Steele, Hazel Peyton Keim, Kennedy Storms, and Braxton Storms.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joe, her parents and brother, Keith Browning.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 905 S. Lee Ave. Burial will follow in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 600 S. Yellowstone Highway. A visitation will be held at the church thirty minutes prior to Monday's Mass.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Gardens Senior Living Center of Rigby and Hospice for their compassionate care of Glenda over the last few months.
