Gordon Lester Kimble, 82 of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. He was born on February 12, 1934 in Burley, ID to Lester Edwin and Lillian Ethel (Evans) Kimble. He lived in Burley until his family moved to Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School Class of 1952 where he played the coronet in the school band and pep band and was recognized for perfect attendance - he was not absent or tardy in four years of high school. He served in the United States Marine Corps on February 16, 1954 where he gained the rank of Sergeant and served in the Marine Band of the Pacific and traveled throughout the Pacific from Alaska to the Philippines and Hawaii. He performed a command solo performance for the Emperor of Japan and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on February 15, 1957. He became a Deputy for the Bonneville County Sheriff's Department in 1958 where he helped form the Bonneville County Jeep Patrol and later, the Bonneville County Search and Rescue organization. He served as a Diver, EMT, and Commander of the Search and Rescue. He was also the owner and mechanic for Phillips 66 station at 1205 W. Broadway, Idaho Falls for 40 years. He was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gordon enjoyed restoring antique snow machines and received awards for condition and age of the machines he restored and was recognized for one of the largest collections of antique snow machines in the Western states - 157 at last count. Gordon was a known for his commitment & service to his community, willingness to help others, and loyalty & love of his family. Gordon is survived by his son David L. Kimble and wife Brenda of Valdez, AK; granddaughter: Jennifer L. Davis and husband Ray of Charlotte, NC and their children: Kaylin and Brandon Davis; grandson: David C. Kimble and wife Mandy of Fairbanks, AK and their children: David M. and Sarah Kimble; grandsons: Benjamin R. Kimble and wife Makayla of Idaho Falls, ID; Jonathan E. Kimble and wife Jenna of Provo, UT; Christopher M. Kimble of Lyon, France; and Timothy A. Kimble of Valdez, AK; his daughter Rhonda Kimble; grandson R.J. Rice and granddaughter Chantelle Rice, all of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne and sister Susan. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 with a viewing from 1:30 - 2:15 p.m. before the service at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 17th St., Idaho Falls, ID 83404. Interment with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Bonneville County Veterans Honors Team will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Idaho Falls.
