Grant Dee Higley

Grant Dee Higley, age 76, Fruitland, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Payette, following a courageous six week battle with brain cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Fruitland LDS Church at 325 N Pennsylvania Ave. at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing beginning at 8:30 a.m. for family and friends. Interment will be immediately following the service at Parkview Cemetery. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Condolences may be made to Grant's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Grant was born in Declo, ID, on June 25, 1937, to Ross B. and Alice (Okesson) Higley. Grant was the third child of four children. Grant graduated from Burley High School in 1956 and joined the National Guard. While on guard duty, his parents moved the family to Portland, OR. Upon completion of basic training, Grant followed his family to Portland where he met the love of his life, Sybil Gibson. They were married on May 17, 1957 in Portland, OR. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were happily married for 53 years until Sybil passed away in July, 2010.
Grant and Sybil welcomed four children into their home: Cynthia, Michael, Lori, and Timothy. They also welcomed many foster children into their home over the years. In March, 2011 Grant married Elva Rae (Sears) Egbert. Grant is survived by his sister Edell Lindley, four children, 11 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his wife Elva Rae. He is preceded in death by his parents Ross and Alice, his brothers Jay and Howard, and his wife Sybil.
