Gregory Mickelsen, 68 of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Greg was born October 16, 1945, in Idaho Falls the son of Guy and Hazel Stanger Mickelsen. He was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He attended BYU. He married Jayne Norton in 1966. They were later divorced. He married Peggy Newberry on August 19, 1979 and they enjoyed 34 years together.
He held a variety of jobs until 1980 when he opened Mickelsen Piano Company where he fulfilled his dream of becoming "The Piano Man." Greg loved to collect coins and stamps and played a variety of musical instruments. He loved animals and enjoyed the pastime of visiting with family and friends. He was well loved for his humor and his storytelling. Greg is survived by his wife of 34 years Peggy, his sister Kaye Tueller (Brent), his children Angela Mickelsen, Adrienne Mickelsen, Jonathan Mickelsen, Wendy Enos (Mark), and Rachel Mickelsen and his grandchildren Zachary Root, Tyler Root, Christian LaForge, Nicolas Palacios, Ashley Mickelsen, and Samuel Enos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Blaine Holbrook and Guy Mickelsen. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, with Phil Simpson, officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
