Harold Gene "Deno" Fitzpatrick of Eden, Idaho passed away quietly at home Saturday morning, September 1, 2012.
Deno was born October 31, 1934 in Clarkridge, Arkansas to Odaus and Myrtle (Crawford) Fitzpatrick. Deno originally came to Idaho in 1951, but made Idaho his permanent home in 1952. On August 29, 1952 he married Imogene Bentley and lived in or around Eden the rest of his life.
Deno did not have the word "can't" in his vocabulary. He was always a hard worker and gave more than what was expected of him. During his working career he held many positions to make sure that he took care of his family. He worked on farms, a machine shop, bean warehouses, and finally in the 70's he started his own welding business that he did in the evenings and on the weekends while still holding down his other full time job.
Deno was a great fix-it-man and spent many happy hours working on the lawn mowers, bicycles, and what ever the neighbors brought him to fix. He loved being helpful.
He was a volunteer fireman for the City of Eden for 30 years and was the fire chief from 1987 to 1988 before finally retiring from that position.
Deno loved the outdoors. In his younger years he loved to hunt, but his great passion was fishing. He loved to get up early and head to a fishing hole with his fishing buddies. He was also an avid game player and especially in his later years loved to play gin rummy, checkers and dominoes.
He loved music. He loved the "jam sessions" that brought his musical friends and family together. He loved to play the guitar and sing.
He became disabled in 1990 with a shoulder injury and soon after was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and had several operations to fix a neck injury. In May of 2012 he was diagnosed with brain cancer, but thru all of these disabling medical issues he kept his positive attitude and sense of humor.
Deno was baptized in 1964 and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene. His children, Jeff Fitzpatrick; Laurie (Jim) McCall and Lisa (Jerry Russo) Williams; his eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters; one brother, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Deno will be held at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park", 136 4th Ave East, Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday September 8, 2012 at 11am. A community potluck and gathering will be held at the Eden Church of Christ starting at 1:30 pm September 8, 2012. Those who would like to bring a side dish are welcome to do so.
