Hazel Mae "Mamie" Barnard McIntyre, 85, met her Lord on November 7, 2013 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. Hazel was born May 2, 1928, the daughter of Oakley L. and Sarah I. Barnard. She was welcomed by her older sister, Helen.
Hazel's parents were pioneers that homesteaded near Idaho Falls in the early 1900's, moving to Albion where she was born. As a young girl she spent many carefree days riding her horse, "Ginger". During the Great Depression the family spent time together in a CCC camp where her father was a foreman. After graduating from High School in Gooding, Idaho, Hazel attended Vocational College at Idaho State University earning a Cosmetology certification. In 1948, Hazel met and married her life mate of 62 years, Gene Paul McIntyre, who passed away in September 2010. Both Hazel and Gene owned and operated "Gene's Beauty Salon" in Twin Falls. After retirement, Arizona became their winter home where countless friendships were made.
Hazel was the heart of her family. Her humor touched the lives of all that knew her and left an everlasting memory. Never did she falter when it came to supporting her daughters in school, dance lessons, 4-H, Job's Daughters, and piano lessons. Hazel was a positive and gentle presence in the lives of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her passion in life was painting; Hazel's love of art can be seen in the homes of family, friends, and businesses. She spread her love of art by inspiring others as an art instructor. Hazel moved to Idaho Falls in 2005 to be near her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christ Community Church provided her with countless friends and loving support.
Hazel is survived by three daughters; Patsy (Kenneth) Watts, Lynn McIntyre, and Connie (Martin)McLellan, all of Idaho Falls; her grandchildren, Sarah (Shane) Cherry, Donald Watts, Kristopher Watts, Tess McLellan, Mattie McLellan and Michael Maggio. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Ava Cherry, whom she adored.
"The Lord is her Shepherd, she shall not be in want." We will miss you dearly, Mamie.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
