Come and share in the Celebration of her life at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 7th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 112 N. 9th St., Payette. Irene will be privately interred at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Condolences may be made to Irene's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Our beloved mother was born at home on the family farm south east of Payette, ID as the last of the 13 children of Harry Ellsworth and Carrie Belle (McCoy) Golden. She began her elementary education in Payette at District 6. Then in her second year after moving to Boise, she attended Washington and Lowell Schools, returning to Payette as a seventh grader where she graduated the following year at District 6. She met the love of her life and our loving father, Raymond Leroy Weygandt (1913-1973) at the Payette Apple Blossom Festival and was married Nov. 4, 1936.
During their early married life, they moved to New Meadows, ID where they worked for the Circle C Ranch which provided them with many wonderful experiences and fond memories.
Eventually they returned to Payette to begin and raise their first family with the birth of our sister Carole Lee (Weygandt) Davies (1940-1962) and then the two of us; Edward "Larry" Weygandt (1941-present) and Glenda Gay (Weygandt) Domby (1946-present). Later after some memorable moves to Warren, ID and the Brownlee Dam area, they eventually settled in Weiser until the death of their daughter Carole that prompted their move to Midvale to raise her three children: David Eugene Davies, Robert Ray Davies, and Tanya Annette (Davies) Valenzuela. Two years after Dad passed away, Mom moved her second family to Weiser where she worked for the Weiser Care Center and the Weiser School Hot Lunch Program, retiring from the later in 1987.
Mom's family was her life! She was a wonderful home maker and cook and she used her baking skills to provide her entire family with unforgettable gatherings around her table. Her no-nonsense leadership kept us all in line and her tenacious will to pour 100% of herself into every endeavor from family, career, hobbies and to her faith leaves us with great pride in her many accomplishments.
Mom loved to fly in Airliners and in her later years her travels took her to locations throughout the U.S. and the world to include two memorable trips; one to Germany with Raymond and one to the Holy Land. In the 1950's and again in the 1970's she was an active member of the Rebecca Lodge known for its benevolence.
Mom was a survivor of many hardships and her faith in Jesus Christ was the bedrock of her strength to the very end. We are forever thankful to her unselfish love and her life well lived. We are all going to greatly miss you Mom. Irene is survived by her son Larry Weygandt (Marlene), her daughter Glenda Domby (Steve), eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Our family would like to give special thanks to everyone who lovingly cared for our dear Mother at Care at Home, Heart ‘n Home Hospice, Kindred Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Dr. Drake and his staff. Contributions may be made on behalf of Irene Weygandt to the Weiser Senior Center, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
