J. Harrison Dennis

J. Harrison Dennis, 88, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at his home in Idaho Falls. He was born in Idaho Falls, on August 5, 1927, to Joseph and Lyda Dennis, and remained living here his entire life, except for 18 months in the US Navy. He joined the Navy at age 17, during World War II. Growing up he and his sister Colleen tap danced at different venues around the valley. In 1948 he started an insurance business and fully retired in March 2006 after 58 years in the business. He married Bonnie C. Sidwell in 1956, and they celebrated their 59th anniversary on July 1st of this year. He was very active in the Masonic Lodge and held many positions. He was a Shriner who led the Kart Kore in many parades around the West and Canada. He and Bonnie enjoyed lots of weekends at their cabin in Palisades. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lyda Dennis, his sister, Colleen Dennis Campbell and one great granddaughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie of 59 years and his children, Debbie (David) Lenihan, Cindy (Leif) Isaacson, and Joe (Lorinda) Dennis; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street in Idaho Falls. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, with Military Rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. A viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
