Jack W. Griffin, 90, of Payette, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center - Boise. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26th at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Service and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Jack was born April 8, 1923 to Willis Patrick Griffin and Ruth (Day) Griffin. Jack lived a full and adventurous life. As a young boy just out of school he worked for ranchers, farmers and in the woods. He served in the Marine Corps for four years before earning an honorable discharge in Jan. 1946. Jack then worked as a heavy equipment operator and #1 Superintendent for Ladd Construction for 32 years. He traveled all over the U.S. building railroads, highways, dams, high bridges and airports. He built the first stage of Seven Oaks Dam, the largest dam in the world at that time.
He met and married the love of his life, Hazel McCoy in 1965. She had two children, Donna and Larry, whom he claimed and raised as his very own. Jack retired in 1993 and resided with his wife in Payette with his family close by.
Jack is preceded in death by his mother Ruth, father Willis and brother Fred. He is survived by his wife Hazel, daughter Donna, son Larry, grandchildren Ryan and Chelsie, three great grandson's, and one due in May. Jack lived a good life and the way he wanted to live it.
