Jacqueline Jackie Harrigfeld

March 16, 1934 — August 13, 2014

Jackie was born in Weiser, Idaho to Lee and Emma Thorson. Jackie graduated from Weiser High School and attended University of Idaho where she met her future husband John Harrigfeld. She was an active member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Jackie transferred to nearby Washington State University to receive the registered nursing degree she had set her sights on. After graduation, Jackie and John married and they moved to Chicago, Illinois where Jackie worked as a Registered Nurse to put John through Northwestern University Dental School and where their first two daughters were born. In 1963, the family moved to Kentucky where Jackie cared for the family while John taught at the University of Louisville, and where their son was born.
In 1965, the family moved to Modesto which was made home and where their final daughter was born. While Jackie's love and singular focus was on raising her family, she did enjoy entertaining family and friends. She was a devoted mother who spent countless hours transporting and attending her children's many activities, including football and baseball games, tennis matches, track and field meets, horse shows, Beyer High Booster Club, 4-H and FFA events. In later years, the joy of her life was her beloved grandchildren. One of her cherished memories was that she could spend summer vacations with her children and grandchildren on property her father acquired and had built a log cabin and lake in the Payette National Forest. She is survived by her husband of 56 years John Harrigfeld; her daughters, Sonya Harrigfeld, Leslie Bergquist (Dennis) and Karna Petrulakis (George); her son Chris Harrigfeld; her grandchildren, Matt, Mark and Lauren Bergquist; and her sister Marilyn Burris (Don). Jackie was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Emma Thorson and her twin sister Jerrie Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jackie's name to a local charity of your choice, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, PO Box 730, Payette, Idaho 83661. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, August 28th at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser.
