Jalene Evans

September 24, 1947 — November 2, 2014

Jalene Dalling Evans was born in Trenton, Michigan on September 24, 1947, to Aggie (Weigel) and Vearl Dalling. She moved with her family back to Idaho Falls as a child. She went to Holy Rosary Catholic School, O.E. Bell Jr. High and graduated from Idaho Falls High in 1965. During high school, she worked in the kitchen of Sacred Heart Hospital.
In the summer of 1965, she met Roger Evans, her best friend and love of her life on a double date at Scotty's Drive In. They were engaged in November of 1965 and married in December of 1966 while he was on leave from the Navy. They moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where they lived for three years. While in Virginia they became parents to three children and met lifelong friends. In 1970, they returned to Idaho Falls where they made their home and raised their family, welcoming a fourth baby in 1975. Her children and her family were the center of her and Roger's life. Jalene went back to school in 1983 to become a licensed practical nurse. She was very proud to be a nurse and was a dedicated caregiver. She nursed and comforted her mother, sister and nephew through their battles with cancer. She and Roger became grandparents in 1993 and she was the best Nanny any grandkid ever had. Their house was a grandkid paradise. Jalene was a person who never forgot a birthday, sent individual hand written Christmas letters to all her family and friends every year, decorated for every holiday and whose house was the go-to place for family events. She loved camping, book tapes, mochas, American Pickers, and was a formidable Scrabble player. Her fried chicken, knebbles and pigs were legendary. She called a spade a spade.
Jalene was killed instantly in a car crash on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Her loss is immeasurable. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and Nanny.
She is survived by her husband Roger, her children, Leslie, Jason, Kimberly and Josh, their spouses, Cliff, Debbie, and Chad; by her two sisters Janet and Christine, nieces and nephews and her grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Jake, Nick, Abbey, Sam and Henry. Our hearts are breaking. We are comforted in knowing that she is now with her parents, her sister Joyce, nephews Doug and Paul and her beloved Shiatsu, Tessie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, corner of 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls, with Father Bill Taylor, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, Jalene would want donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Online condolences may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com.
