James August Gerke, 82, of New Plymouth, passed away in Vale, Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at Pioneer Place. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday November 8, 2013 at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho. Pastor Phil Pittman will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. James was born May 3, 1931 in Boise, Idaho to August Edward and Eva Lorena (Nevens) Gerke. Jim was an Idaho State Policeman from 1956 to 1966. He worked as a plant manager for Loomix in Nyssa, OR, until his accident in 1985. He suffered many years with pain, but never knew the word "can't." He was always willing share with others. Jim loved his family. Jim is survived by his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Lorena Gerke, a son, and a grandson. We wish to thank St Alphonsus in Ontario, Pioneer Place in Vale, Heart N Home Hospice in Fruitland and Dr. Nani Cabrera and her Staff for all their care for Jim.
