Our beloved, James Wesley Humble, 93, of New Plymouth, Idaho, passed away on Sunday June 15, 2014 of natural causes. Jim was born on March 23, 1921 in Victor, Idaho in the family home. He was the son of William Henry Humble and Agnes May Campbell. Jim was the 6th child of 10 children. The family moved to Lovell, Wyoming, for a short while but later returned to Victor where Jim Graduated from Teton High School. As a boy, he loved to train and ride horses and enjoyed time herding sheep in the mountains with his father and brothers. Growing up during the depression, Jim worked a myriad of hard jobs over the years. After a four year tour of duty with the Maritime Services in the South Pacific, he returned home and married Lola Miller of Bancroft, Idaho, on November 16, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Boise Idaho Temple. They moved to New Plymouth where Jim held a job as an artificial breeding technician until he had enough money to buy a small dairy farm. He was very proud of his dairy herd and the crops he was able to grow. They also owned and operated a restaurant and folks came from all around for some of Jim's cooking and Lola's Pies. Jim and Lola adopted and raised a son, Joseph Allen, who died in a trucking accident in 1981 at the age of 25. Jim enjoyed helping others and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for over forty years. He had a great sense of humor and was much beloved by family and neighbors who helped him greatly in his advanced years. He spent many hours as a volunteer for Heart and Home Hospice Care and worked closely with the veterans who benefited from their care. He most recently became a Master Gardener at the age of 92. He loved New Plymouth and resided there until his death. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Lola, son Joe, his parents and siblings: Izetta May, Vadna Jean, William Henry Jr., Mona Marie, George Anthony, Winona, Miles Dee Lee, and Max Vertis. Jim is survived by one sister Olive Murrel Cooke of Victor, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the New Plymouth 1st Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. A viewing will be held prior to the church service from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Condolences may be made to Jim's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
