James M. (Jim) Munden, 75, passed away August 12, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Idaho Falls. Jim was born to James Arthur and Mamie Sardam Munden in Clarkston, WA. Jim graduated from Clarkston High School in 1956. After graduation Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1956 - 1960 at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Jim married Elaine Slater and had one son, James Munden and adopted Elaines two children, Vickie & Scott; they were later divorced. Jim moved to Pocatello in 1967 where he was one of the founders of Big O Tire and Jim's Bannock Tire. Jim met and married Diane Briggs and that brought him a stepson David Briggs and together they were later blessed with a son, Robert Munden. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1989 and worked for Jack's Tire and Oil from 1989 - 2006 at which time he retired and bought a large motor home and traveled to Big River, California, for the winters. Jim and Diane loved their winters in California where they made many friends from all parts of the United States and Canada. Jim was always around when someone needed help with fixing a car, cutting wood, fixing a snowmobile, changing a tire or whatever needed to be done. You could always depend on Jim to help get the job done! He enjoyed watching Nascar and never missed a race on TV. Jim was a friend to everyone, rich or poor, it didn't matter to him he was a true friend. Jim and Diane loved spending time together, that is they did everything together, they were a team. They loved spending time at their cabin. Snowmobiling was one of their favorite things to do while boating and fishing were high on their list. Friends were many and they were the very best at entertaining. Many remember Jim's famous breaded trout with seconds for everyone. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
