Jim H. Vaughn, age 77, of New Plymouth, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016. Born March 6, 1939 to George Vaughn and Marie Gerlach. Jim was raised by his mother and step father Max Gerlach on the family farm at the end of Dutch Lane where he and his two brothers, Charles and Harold, grew up enjoying farm life. Jim attended Payette High School, after which he enlisted in the Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge. He was married to Adeline Baines and had two children, Lorraine and Tim; they later divorced. He married again to Sharon Bullington and they too later divorced. After working at the Payette creamery he moved to Great Falls, Montana to work a mail route and after a decade he started to work at Peter Kiewit where he remained for 27 years. During his time there Jim met his "boy" Doug Elliott. Jim moved back to New Plymouth in 1985 where he worked at Malheur County Road Department until retirement. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved competing in bass tournaments with his brother Harold and blasting off in his Blue Champion bass boat. Jim was a collector of old cars and loved attending local car shows especially with his 1964 Thunderbird convertible and co-pilot Cindy Remington. Jim is preceded in death by his mother and step father; father; two brothers, Robert Max Gerlach and Charles Vaughn. He is survived by his brother Harold Vaughn; niece Becky Vaughn Stratton, and extended family.
