James Lee Wiren, devoted husband and father, lost his battle with Leukemia on June 25th, 2014, surrounded by family at home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, New Plymouth. A viewing will be held from 10 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. James, known by those who loved him as "Jim", was born on January 21, 1941 to George Wiren, and Ruth Roberts in Toledo, Washington. He was the youngest of 8 children, and the first child to be born in a hospital. He was raised in nearby Vader, Washington. During his childhood, his father passed away when he was 11 and his mother followed when he was 16. Being a minor, he went to live with his oldest brother, Gordon Wiren, who was serving in the military. He lived with him in the Philippines until he was able to enlist himself. After graduation, he enlisted and joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Moses Lake, Washington, where he met the love of his life, Delores "Elaine" Butler. They were married on August 28th, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple, when he was 22 and she was 18. He was stationed in Guam, Philippines, during the Vietnam War. Jim and Elaine came home in 1968 and settled in Vancouver, Washington. He went to work for Pacific Northwest Bell as a telephone repairman. He worked for them for 33 years. After they raised their children, they retired and moved to New Plymouth, Idaho. They spent several years being snowbirds, traveling back and forth to Yuma, Arizona. In 2011, Jim was diagnosed with AML, a type of leukemia. He survived the first round of treatment, and was blessed with 3 more years. Jim was the proud father of 5 children: Jerry Lee Wiren, Wendy Marie (Jeff) Jones, Stasi Elaine (Lee) Adsitt, Scott James (Christina) Wiren, and Kelly Jean (Timothy) Sproat. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, his 5 children, his brother Dennis Wiren (TX), 17 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
