Jason M. Good, 60, of Payette, died of cancer at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Jason's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
Jason was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Ontario, OR, to Elton G. and Lily M. Good. He was the second son of four children born to them. Jason grew up in the Ontario Heights area, helping his family on their ranch near the Malheur Butte. He graduated from Ontario High School in 1969. After graduation, Jason served and worked in the Idaho Air National Guard in Boise for six years. He married his sweetheart, JoAnne Jensen Good, on Nov. 26, 1976. They made their home in Payette and welcomed their first child, daughter Wren. In 1983, they settled on Jason's family farm in the Washoe area and had a second child, son Stuart. Jason worked for the United States Postal Service in Payette for over 30 years before retiring in Feb. 2009.
His favorite activities were taking family drives in the desert, working with his cattle, driving his tractor, and vacationing at the Oregon Coast. The past five years of his life were especially sweet for Jason because he became a grandpa, and there was nothing he loved more in this world than his three granddaughters, Reese, Ellie, and Adalyn. They helped cheer up his spirits through the darkest days.
Jason is survived by his wife JoAnne; sister Marla (Virgil) Leedy; sister Merlene Wilson; sister-in-law Fay Good; and children Wren (Andy) Garcia and Stuart Good. He is also survived by his nieces Jamie Wilson and Jordan Wilson, and his nephews James Good and Jason (Jill) Good. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Jeffrey Good.
