Jean Greenhalgh

August 11, 1930 — December 24, 2012

Jean was born and raised in Idaho Falls to her loving parents Charles and Helen Lausch Reed, who farmed in Osgood. She was the oldest child, thus loved and tended to her 3 brothers and younger sister. Work during this time included the normal chores of country life on a farm involving lots of hard work. Reed's Dairy arose out of her family's farm life. She fell in love during her senior high-school year with J. Robert Stoker who had recently returned from service with the U.S. Navy. They married soon after his return. Shortly thereafter life took them to Colorado for Bob's education. Bob moved the family to Sacramento, California once college was completed. While Bob designed bridges, Jean was a full-time homemaker; she always had lots of love for her three children. After 25 years of marriage, they divorced. Jean moved back to Idaho Falls a few years later to be close to her family. Following 17 years of work at the INL as a Security Officer, Jean retired and enjoyed life with family close by. In 2006 she had a stroke which placed her in Lincoln Court Assisted Living. Much to the family's pleasant surprise she soon found love again (after 37 years of being single) with Richard Greenhalgh. She married him at the mature age of 78 and enjoyed life with Richard for the last 4 years until the LORD called her home. Her faith in the living LORD Jesus and His gift of salvation was something she embraced her entire life. God has been faithful to care for her needs and wants during the past 82 years. We'll see her again some fine day. Her hobbies included bridge, shopping, reading, spending time with friends and family and church activities. Survivors include her children, C. Robert (Debra) Stoker of Spokane, Washington, Deborah S.(Michael) Jorgensen and Stephen R. (Rita) Stoker both of Pocatello; her brother, C. Leroy (Larene) Reed of Idaho Falls; and sister, Shirley H. (Henry) Petersen of Rigby; and a sister-in-law, Carol Reed of Idaho Falls; her grandchildren, David, John, Alicen Stoker- Bob's children; Shelbi Buffi and Jill Jorgensen-Deborah's children; Joshua, Ryan and Jason Stoker-Stephen's children; and five great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Larry and David Reed, and a sister-in-law, Sharon Reed.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2012, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 N. Water in Idaho Falls, with Reverend Brenda Sene and assistant Michael Jorgensen, officiating. The family at Trinity United Methodist church provided much love and support to Jean who was greatly involved in that ministry to the community. She had many dear friends in and near Idaho Falls; we thank all of you for your touch in her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
