Jerrold Mirt Jackson, age 78, of Ririe, Idaho passed away at his home December 23rd, 2017. He was born in Driggs, Idaho to Darrell M. and Thelma Jackson. Jerry attended school in Teton Valley and at the age of 9, he joined his grandpa Thomas in sheep herding. After graduating from high school, Jerry joined the United States Army and achieved the rank of Army Specialist. He later married Sylvia DuMont from Boise, Idaho who later passed away.
Jerry then married June Colvin. They later divorced. In 1977, he married Amber Grant, and they later divorced.
Jerry moved around to various places. He worked as a cook. and spent time working in the copper mines in Montana. He worked for J.R. Simplot, Western Foods, Remo's, Western State Circuit Breakers and after his retirement, he worked maintenance at the Ammon McDonald's and as a Greens Keeper for the golf courses in Idaho Falls.
Jerry was a member of the Teamsters Union, He loved: fishing, hiking, camping, four wheeling, hunting, and was a history buff.
Jerry was a loving son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by: his two sons, Brent and Blaine, his mother Thelma, and his father Darrell.
Jerry is survived by: his son, William (Carol) Russell of Ririe, ID, son Bradley (Debby)Jackson of Meridian, ID, son Bryan Russell of Ucon, ID, daughter Brooke (Layne)Kindred of Idaho Falls, ID, and daughter Rebecca (Craig) Kirkpatrick of Mountain Home, ID, 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren.
Per Jerry's request, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to the local animal shelter.
