Jim L. Goff, 89, of Payette, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012. A viewing for family and friends will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 9th at the Highway Worship Center in Fruitland. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Jim was born in McDonald County, MO. He was the fourth of 10 children born to M.L. Goff and Doshie E. (Cash) Goff. His family moved to Idaho in 1935 settling in Payette. In 1943 he met the love of his life Ethel Pierce; they were married in May of 1944. Jim worked many jobs but didn't find his niche in life until he and his brother, Virgil, bought their first salvage yard.
He enjoyed many things but really enjoyed dancing, his 1929 Model A Roadster, camping, fishing and hunting. Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ethel; four children, Sharon Slyter (Tom) of Weiser, Dan Goff (Janice) of New Plymouth, Darlene Haley (Bill) of Petersburg, AK, Rick Goff (Kathy) of Roseburg, OR; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Pansy Johnson (Carl) of Payette and Betty Gentry (Ernie) of Fruitland; one brother, Virgil Goff (Dorothy) of Payette; many nieces and nephews; and one very special friend and adopted family member, Sharon Gates of New Plymouth.
