Joe Monroe Madrid Sr.

August 15, 1957 — October 23, 2015

Joe Monroe Madrid Sr., 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 in his home in Payette. Joe, known to many as "Hezzie", was born on Aug. 15, 1957 in Nyssa, OR to Louie Gilbert and Lola Jane (Buchanan) Madrid. He graduated from Fruitland High School in 1975 and went on to work for Champion Home Builders for over 25 years. He was a member of the Weiser Elks Lodge from 1989-2012. Joe was a hardworking man who enjoyed fishing, watching old horror movies and westerns, as well as spending time and enjoying life with friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his eight grandchildren. Joe is survived by his wife Cherie Martin Madrid; daughter Heather Madrid; sons Joe "Giz" Madrid and Louie "Munch" Madrid; brothers Louie "Butch" Madrid and Robert Cheezo" Madrid; and sister Linda "Doll" (Madrid) Valero. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded in death by his mother Lola Jane Madrid (1982) and his father Louie Gilbert Madrid (2000). A viewing for family and friends will be held from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 112 N 9th St., Payette. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29th also at the chapel with burial following at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery, Nyssa, OR.
