John C. Shively was taken from us on February 12, 2014 in a tragic farm accident. He was born on April 18, 1990 in Idaho Falls to Rob and Lisa Shively. He was brought home to the family farm where he lived and worked as a fourth generation farmer for over 20 years. He was active in 4-H and FFA while growing up and enjoyed many sports activities. "Shives" excelled in wrestling, basketball, baseball and was a member of the West Jefferson State football championship team in 2007. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 2008 and then went on to continue his education at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. He was a very special young man that touched so many people with his warm smile, positive attitude and his willingness to do anything for anyone. Everyone that knew him loved and respected him. He spent countless hours with friends enjoying their friendships and living life to it's fullest. Some of the many interests and loves John had were working the land and reaping it's bounty. Growing up on the farm produced his hard work ethic that so many admired. He respected nature and all it had to offer and spent many hours hunting and fishing with his family and friends. John also put many miles on snow machines and motorcycles enjoying all the beauty of nature. He is well known for his terrific sense of humor and the way he could make anyone laugh with his wittiness and jokes. One of the unique displays of his humor was ALL of the hideous and ugly sweaters he proudly displayed. He spent endless hours at Thrift Stores searching for the ugliest old sweater he could find to wear. John met the love of his life and soul mate when he was introduced to his wonderful wife Brittney (Nelson) Shively. They were introduced by a close friend and immediately knew they were meant to be together. Brittney and John started their life together with a ceremony at the family cabin in Salmon on June 13, 2013. John and Brittney enjoyed hanging with friends and family, shooting guns, floating the river, camping, biking, and going on long drives together. John and Brittney were inseparable, not only were they in love they were also best friends which made their bond that much stronger. John is survived by his beautiful wife Brittney, his loving parents Rob and Lisa, his beloved brother Steve and wife Joanna; Grandparents Brad and Julie Christensen, Grandmother Janice Shively, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his Grandfather Bill Shively. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Terreton LDS Stake Center, 1509 N. 1300 E. in Terreton, with Pastor Scotty Brown, officiating and President Todd Simmons, presiding.
