John Matthew Staples

John joined the Navy at 17 and served for 22 years. He worked for the Presbyterian Church as a janitor and maintenance man, as well as a truck driver for Western Transport and Nulph Brothers. He married Sandra Stelzer October 16, 1964, in Jacksonville Florida. They had three children, David, Kassandra and Jessica. Survivors include his wife Sandra Staples of Idaho Falls, David (Edna) Staples of Santa Rosa, California, Kassandra (Christopher) Weible of West Demoines, Iowa, and Jessica (William) Johnson of Oregon City, Oregon; two sisters Julie Birt-Thueson of Idaho Falls and Leslie J Fanning of Socorro, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Michael and Thomas Weible and Isabel Staples, William Johnson III, and one on the way. John was proceeded in death by his parents John and Alice Staples and his father and mother-in-law Tom and Vivian Stelzer. At his request he will be cremated. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to American Diabetes Association, 4380 Macadam Ave., Suite 210, Portland, OR 97239. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.John Matthew Staples passed away at his home on May 19. John was born in Ogden Utah on May 26, 1942, to John Leslie and Alice May Travis Staples. He spent his earlier years in Idaho Falls and Shelley.
