It is undoubtedly difficult to encapsulate the depth and significance of one's life with mere words. This is particularly true for a man such as Jose, whose love and legacy left a profound impact on all who had the honor and privilege of being in his life. He was born on 11-14-1930 in Panuco de Coronado, Durango to Leonardo and Antonia Pedroza Soto. Jose would go on to marry the love of his life, Juanita Favela Soto, with whom he had four children: Evodio "Ed" Soto, Maria Estefana Vargas, Maria de Jesus Soto, and Mercedes Soto. In 1949 Jose moved to Toppenish, Washington where he worked for several years prior to moving to Weiser, Idaho. Jose then moved to Nu Acres, Idaho, where he began farming beets, potatoes, onions, and beans along with his son, Ed. Jose's work ethic was unsurpassed and he rarely missed a day of work prior to retiring in 2003. Jose was, above all, the consummate family man and Jose's life was filled with his sublime love for his family. The most blissful moments for Jose were when his family was gathered together and united. An image that will undoubtedly be forever etched in the minds of those whom he loved will be his loving smile and the soft sound of his laughter as he rejoiced in the company of his family. The void felt by Jose's death spans across several generations, as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have all experienced the loss brought upon by Jose's death. Jose is survived by: his siblings Luis and Gregorio Soto, Evodio and Rosa Soto, Maria Estefana Vargas, Maria de Jesus Soto, and Mercedes Soto; as well as his brother-in-law Rafael Favela and his sister-in-law Ignacia Favela. 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive him. His grandchildren Daniel and Veronica Soto, wife Juanita Favela Soto, siblings Jose Trinidad Soto, Manuela Soto, Faustino Soto and Magdalena Soto, as well as his parents, preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to MISTI in Fruitland in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel P.O. Box 730 Payette, Idaho 83661
