Kristi was born in Wenatchee, WA to Samuel & Patricia (Woster) Stone. She has one older sister, Michelle "Mikki" and one younger brother, Sam II. As all middle kids know, in order to stand out in the crowd, Kris had to be the quickest wit, funniest clown, world class spitfire, and (in her case) worst driver. In the last category she was the undisputed champion. She left a string of orange Hondas from the Northwest to South Carolina and back!
Kris was a Jill of all trades, free spirit like no other, absolutely certain in her opinions, and sure of her status in ‘Kristi World'. She became a pilot in high school, eventually reaching a skill level that attracted attention in the 80's from a commercial airline. She was courted to become their first female pilot. However, by that time, she "was done with that part of her life" - a sentiment that almost caused our father to be done with all of her life! Kristi was a crop duster, flight instructor, beet truck driver, PVF packer, picker, and flagger in this area. She also lived for several years in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, working on a shrimp boat with her dear friends, Captain Jerry & Lee Baldwin. Anyone fortunate enough to visit her out there could see how she flourished. She loved that life. Kris inherited the innate ability to give the people close to her the absolute perfect gift, for that person, that time, that circumstance. It never failed to amaze, even as other things changed. Kristi also had a huge capacity for love for all animals. She surrounded herself with them and did her best to take care of them. After Kristi moved back to Idaho, she never completely found her bearings again. What was "larger than life living" through her 20's & 30's, gradually morphed into battling many health issues. Kristi passed away in her house on Stone ranch, where she lived for the past 25 years. After years of increasingly poor health, her overworked little heart announced "we're done". She passed from an apparent heart attack on October 8th. Kris leaves behind her brother, whom she loved with all her heart, Sam (Tricia) Stone, and their three sons, Sam III (Jessica), Mathew and Eric. She is also survived by her sister Michelle (Steve) Lamm, her two potbellied pigs, 8 llamas, and her dog Poocho, who fiercely guarded her body until she was discovered. Kristi would also want us to thank her neighbor and friend, Bill Ford, for all the assistance he gave her over the years, as well as her neighbors, the Tom Stills family. Kristi must be very gratified with the outpouring of messages and love from her classmates and friends in Payette - she knows she is still remembered fondly, and certainly would want them all to ‘have one' for her! There are no services planned at this time. Her ashes will eventually be scattered in the ocean off Isle of Palms, South Carolina. Please spend time with your loved ones, tell them you love them, and check in with them often.
