Lacenia Maria Blackburn

January 14, 1944 — April 16, 2016

Lacenia Maria Franklin Blackburn (Lacy), 72, from Payette, Idaho passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho of natural causes. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Payette Second Ward with Bishop Thomas conducting. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette and prior to the funeral services, 10 AM until 10:45 AM at the Payette Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building.

Lacenia was born on January 14, 1944, in Waynesville, North Carolina to Walter Raleigh Franklin, Jr. and Lucille Simmonds Franklin. She was the oldest child of three. She lived in North Carolina until she moved to Savannah, Georgia when she was eight (1952).
She graduated from Jenkins High School in 1962. She met her sweetheart, Milton Paul Blackburn and married him on August 27, 1966, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union five sons and one daughter was born. Milton adopted Lacenia's son James and he became a Blackburn. She worked for Woodgrain Millwork until she retired in November 2008. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan. She loved baseball. She loved to laugh and serve others.

Lacenia is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Joe) Crowell, Boise; six sons, James (Mihwa) Blackburn, Vancouver, WA; Paul Blackburn, Payette; Donald Blackburn, Tempe, AZ; Milton (Megan) Blackburn, Nampa; Russell Blackburn, Payette; and Walter (Aria) Blackburn, Portland, ME; one brother, David (Dianne) Franklin, Fort Lauderdale, FL.; seven granddaughters; nine grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Milton, her parents, her sister Eula Yvette (Betsy), her grandparents, and several aunts and uncles preceded her in death.
