Leona was born in Monitor, Oregon, April 9, 1934 the firstborn to M.Z. Hanson and Pearl Chubb Hanson. She graduated in 1952 from Gem State Adventist Academy in Caldwell, Idaho and continued her education to become a Registered Nurse, a career she practiced through her entire life, delivering babies, healing damaged bodies or holding the hands of the dying. She was a trusted resource for health and medical questions. Leona was united in marriage to Leo Albert Reeve November 27, 1955. After Leo completed his tour in the US Army he and Leona moved several times with three small children before they settled into farming in Payette County, Idaho, where a fourth child was born. Leona loved the farm and working outdoors as much as she loved nursing. She divided her time between raising her family, gardening, moving water pipes, driving farm trucks, and caring for the medical needs of her patients. When grandchildren arrived she became their advocate, supporter and taxi driver. She enjoyed reading and perused a wide variety of books and magazines which included health news, political commentaries and, of course, her beloved Bible. She was deeply religious and actively involved in her church. She also volunteered her summers as the camp nurse in the Alaska Camps. She thoroughly enjoyed working and teaching children about God's love. Leona, with her husband, completed several summers as missionaries in Belize. They were married over 56 years before his passing in 2012.
