Leonard M. Brown

September 17, 1938 — August 21, 2013

Leonard was born September 17, 1938 in Chambers, Nebraska to Walter and Freda (Sengelmann) Brown. He was raised in the Chambers area and graduated from Chambers High School in 1956. After high school, Leonard worked at various jobs, including long-haul truck driver, before choosing his career as a meat cutter for Safeway at the age of 19. In 1959, Leonard married the love of his life, Lenora Langan. They lived in O'Neill for the first three years of their marriage and two of their four children, Mardi and Greg, were born there. After that, Leonard was transferred to Fremont, Nebraska and they soon ended up in southwestern Iowa, where two more children, Curt and Justin were born. They remained in Iowa for the next 23 years until Safeway closed its chain of stores in the area. In 1986, Leonard packed up his wife and two younger sons and moved to Montpelier, Idaho for a job with Safeway. He had always loved the mountains and decided this was a perfect opportunity for an adventure. Leonard never regretted this decision. He and his family spent many happy times in the mountains of Idaho and made wonderful memories. By 1988, the family had settled in Twin Falls, Idaho where Leonard managed the Lynwood IGA for 15 years before his retirement in 2003.
After his wife's retirement in 2004, Leonard and Lenora sold their home in Twin Falls and purchased a motor home. They traveled the country for 2 years, which had always been a dream for both of them. In 2006, Leonard and Lenora built a home in the small, peaceful town of Buhl, Idaho just outside of Twin Falls, where they have lived for the past 7 years. Leonard's greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren in the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and teaching his children and grandchildren to love nature and to preserve its valuable treasure. Leonard's greatest sorrow in life came in 1997, when his youngest son, Justin was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 21. His life would continue after that, but a piece of his heart was forever lost. Leonard is survived by his wife, Lenora Brown of Buhl, Idaho; daughter, Mardi Oliver (Allen Oliver) of Craig, Colorado; sons, Greg Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho and Curt Brown (Kenni Davis Brown) of Kimberly, Idaho; grandchildren, Ben and Nick Oliver of Craig, Colorado; Melissa Brown (Max Kingsbury) of Seattle, Washington; Luke Brown of Portland, Oregon; Kelly Brown of Moscow, Idaho; Hannah and Wesley Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho and Dylan Kelly also of Twin Falls; three step grandchildren, Hunter, Kenzi and Weston Littlefair of Kimberly, Idaho. Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Justin; his parents, Walter and Freda Brown; and his sister, Irene Cleary. At Leonard's request there will be no services. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Trent Stimpson and staff at White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Leonard's name to Visions Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice. Contributions may be mailed for processing to White Mortuary, P.O. Box 845, Twin Falls, Idaho 83303. Condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.whitemortuary.com.Leonard M.
