Leonard was born September 27, 1922, in Ontario to Ed and Flossie Patton, and grew up on Little Willow Creek. He attended Payette schools and the University of Idaho for two years, before enlisting in the US Army. He served with the Army Air Corps in Europe during WWII, in various air offensives including the one at Normandy. After the war he returned to Payette where he married Elizabeth "Jiggs" Cain (D 7/30/06). Leonard was a lifelong rancher on Little Willow Creek. He was actively involved in the Payette River Cattlemen's Association, including serving as President. Also, he served for several years as a Payette County Commissioner. Dad (Grandpa) was present and fully engaged in the life of his family, and was known for his sense of humor. Leonard is survived by his daughter, Lynn Jackson and husband Steve of Salt Lake City, and their children Jeff (Jessica) Seattle, Tim (Jesse) Salt Lake City, Amy Woodcook (Tyler) Boise, and Mark (Elizabeth) Los Angeles; his daughter Mary Parsons and husband Brian of Hendersonville, NC, and their children Robb (Linda) Grand Junction, CO, and Jill Miller (Josh) Hendersonville, NC; and seven great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday March 14th, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fruitland, Idaho. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
