Leonard Baxter Rice

Leonard Rice 69 of Idaho falls passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 30, 1944 in Asheville, NC to John Franklin and Mary Ellen McKinney Rice. He attended school in Ririe graduating in 1962. He married Marsha Lee Stoddard on November 5th , 1964 in Idaho Falls. They were married for 47 years.
On January 26th , 2012 he lost his soul mate and the love of his life. He worked for Don's Service for 45 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and The Eagles Lodge. He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
He spent many weekends with Marsha showing their 1966 GTO.
He as an accomplished musician and began his musical career with his brother Bud and sister Christine playing for many years at the "Hub Bar". He continued playing music with his friends until his illness progressed and no longer allowed him to sing and play his bass guitar.
He was a loving and generous father, brother, grandfather and friend. He touched many lives and hearts and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his three daughters, Lisa (Joe) Branson and Barbara Nelson both of Idaho Falls, and Tiffany (Shane) McDaniel of Newport New, Virginia; three brothers, John Archie (Sue) Rice of Idaho Falls, David (Kathy) Rice of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bud (Vinna) Rice of Marion, North Carolina; two brother-in-laws, Raymond (Velda) Stoddard and Kip Stoddard, both of Idaho Falls; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his loving wife Marsha, his grand-daughter Jode and his sister Christine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at New Sweden Cemetery.
