Lois A. Grey

Lois A. Grey, 90, passed away at her home on Saturday, December 28, 2013, in Idaho Falls. The daughter of Oscar and Minnie Anderson, was born in Moscow, Idaho, on June 12, 1923. Lois' early childhood was spent on the family 600 acre wheat ranch, 8 miles from Moscow. She attended a one room school through the 4th grade until her family moved into Moscow for the winter months. She graduated from Moscow High School in 1942. Following High School, she entered the University of Idaho, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, receiving her BA degree in Education in 1946. After graduation, she taught seventh grade spelling at Lewiston Jr. High School for two years. In June, 1948, she married Alan Grey. The wedding was conducted in the Moscow Methodist Church. That fall she taught Kindergarten in a Moscow school. In September, 1949, a son Dennis was born. In 1950, the family moved to Pullman, Washington where her husband continued his education. In the spring of 1952, her husband accepted a job with Shell Chemical Company and they moved to Martinez, California. While there, a son Ronald and a daughter Judith were born. In 1955 there was a transfer to Houston, Texas, and two years later a transfer to Los Angeles, California. While living in Los Angeles, she was a substitute teacher. In 1970, a transfer to New York City was refused and her husband left Shell. The next few years were spent buying and refurbishing apartments. This continued until a job was accepted at the INEL and the family moved to Idaho Falls, where they have retained their permanent residence. Lois and Alan are charter members of the Sociables; which was formed in 1978. With this group there has been many enjoyable functions. Lois was a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was very active in Bridge circles and served as chairwoman of the New Comers Marathon Bridge for several years. She was active in Bridge up until her death.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald in Los Angeles, her parents, Oscar and Minnie, and her brother, Kenneth, all of Moscow, Idaho. She is survived by her husband, Alan; daughter, Judith, and her son and his wife, Dennis and Dev, and two grandchildren, Colin and Morgan Grey; and her sister Audrey from Delaware.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls.
