Lowell Russell Wood

April 4, 1913 — November 2, 2011

Lowell Russell Wood, 98 of Idaho Falls, known as "Tige" by family and friends, passed away Wednesday Nov. 2nd, 2011 at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Ammon, ID.
He was born in Lenox, Taylor County, Iowa on April 4th, 1913. the second son of Bert and Jessie (Churchill) Wood. He grew up and attended school in the New Sweden area near Idaho Falls. In 1931 he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Tige served in the Army and was stationed in Korea. He was also very involved with the Scouting program, earning his Eagle Scout and later serving as Scout Master. He was also a Sea Scout. Tige's love for the outdoors included hunting and fishing. He made guns, was a member of many local gun clubs, was an excellent marksman, and a lifelong member of the NRA. He was married to Charlotte Elg and lived in the New Sweden area until her death in 1968. In 1975 he married Opal Booth and lived mostly in the Phoenix area until she passed away.
Lowell is survived by; brother, Forrest Wood of Blackfoot , Step Daughter Betty Cooper Ritchey of Phoenix AZ, Step Grand-daughter Monica, Nephew Byron (Teri) Wood of Rigby ID, Nieces Jeanine Beckman of Idaho Falls, Carol (Ted) Whitehead of New Sweden and Nancy (Nord) Hill of Blackfoot ID. He was also preceded in death by his parents and Brother Kenneth Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 5, 2011 Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home 825 E. 17th, Idaho Falls, with Jason Child officiating. Internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Idaho Youth Ranch.
