Loy Magdalene (Scott) Johnson, 98, died peacefully asleep in her home in New Plymouth, ID on March 7, 2013. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, prior to the Funeral service on Thursday, March 14th at 1 p.m. at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth with Pastor Phil Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Condolences may be made to Loy's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. She was born July 16, 1914 at Mundell, AR to Joseph and Mirtie Sarah Scott (nee Clark). She enjoyed a childhood with her many brothers and sisters who played in the woods and streams of the Ozarks as well as helping their parents on the family farm.
At age 15 when starting a new school year Loy met a new friend whom she later married. She and Arthur McCrae "Mack" Johnson married on Feb. 27, 1935. They later moved to Idaho where they raised six children and farmed land they cleared in the Black Canyon Irrigation District south of New Plymouth. Loy is survived by her sons Alvie Johnson, Tom Johnson and wife Shirley of New Plymouth and Tim Johnson and wife Margaret of Estacada, OR; daughters Emma Haas, Sandra Rayburn and husband Fred of Clarkston, WA and Ann Johnson and husband Mark Wilson of Berkeley, CA; one sister Leona Johnson of Lewiston, ID; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Her husband, Arthur, and an infant son, Joseph, preceded her in death. The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Sherry Plumb who provided invaluable in-home assistance which such loving care for Loy during her final years.
