Lula Belle Messick Simpson went to her home in Heaven on January 8th, 2013. She was born to Birtie and Brinkley Messick on February 1, 1925, in Basalt, Idaho. She grew up in Shelley and later moved to Idaho Falls. She was married on August 18, 1944, in Dillon, Montana to Fred R. Simpson, whom she loved dearly. She had four children and later moved to Ririe, Idaho where she spent the remainder of her life. She loved writing poetry and reading, growing her roses and peonies, crocheting and embroidering, and camping with her family at Reservoir Lake in Montana.
She is survived by one brother: George Messick; four children and their spouses: Dewey Simpson; Sheila (Thomas) Hogan; Ralph (Colleen) Simpson and Julia (Jim) Champion; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, and her beloved K-9 companion, Ty. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 4 brothers and one sister, her husband, her grandson and her great granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Ririe Shelton Cemetery in Ririe, with Pastor Kirk Baker of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls.
