Margaret Ann Cristobal

February 13, 1935 — September 22, 2017

February 3, 1935 - September 22, 2017 FILER - Margaret Ann "Peggy" Cristobal, 82, left her earthly journey to explore the trails in Heaven September 22, 2017. She was born in Twin Falls, the first born of Elmer Roger and Beckie Marjorie Wallace Parrott. She was joined later by siblings Richard M. Parrott and Betty Jean Parrott. Mom grew up near Berger on the farmland homesteaded by both her father and grandfather, Orville R. Parrott. She was a member of the "can do" generation, raised with few funds and amenities but rich with family and experiences. She treasured the family gatherings with aunts, uncles, and cousins galore.
Mom attended elementary school in Berger. She graduated from Filer High School in 1953 being active in marching band and trap shooting. She attended classes at Boise Junior College and trained at St. Luke's Hospital to become a Radiology Technologist. After passing her boards, she worked for Dr. Soli in Jerome and met Richard E. "Dick" Cristobal. They wed January 4, 1958 and the following year daughter Teresa was born. When Anita was born, they moved back to the family farm where son David joined the crew. Mom raised a large garden, chickens, beautiful flowers and yard. She canned everything she could, sewed, and kept a very clean home despite being an old farmhouse. She also helped with the cattle and farm too. She loved the outdoors-fishing, camping, deer and pheasant hunting. In 1977 we left the farm and bought a home in Filer where she has since resided. She and Dick divorced in 1982.
When David began school she went back to work part-time as an X-Ray Tech at the Twin Falls Clinic & Hospital. During her long career she worked for Dr. Jestadt, Magic Valley Regional, St. Benedicts, Physicians Center/Quick Care, and St. Luke's where she retired in 2011 at age 75. She had the oldest active ARRT number in Idaho and experienced the industry from film developed in chemical baths to the digital images of today. She was the first person in southern Idaho to pass the Mammography certification "just to see if she could".
Mom was active as a 4-H club leader helping to develop projects like leather working, snowmobile and motorcycle safety. She was a member of the Hollister Elementary PTO, proud of fund-raising efforts for new playground equipment and a gymnasium. She was a charter member of the Idaho Chapter of the Oregon-California Trail Association and was very active in the group. She attended conventions and traveled miles of the trails with good friend Afton.
She had served on Filer Planning & Zoning and recently the Filer Library Board, attended city council meetings, and was a member of the Filer High Alumni Association helping with several of their reunion memory books.
Mom had a huge passion for history! You could find her reading, researching, visiting people and places to learn all she could about local history. She loved to share and preserve it for future generations. She was a frequent visitor to the Twin Falls Public Library Idaho Room, Twin Falls County Museum, member of Idaho State Historical Society, and buyer of local history books and magazines. Mom's babies were the books she compiled and published for the Filer Centennial and the Hollister School 100 Year celebration. She was just finishing a book about Rogerson but would find just one more "gem".
Mom was proud of her heritage, her children and grandkids. She loved unconditionally and was kind, caring, and generous to a fault. She will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. Until we meet again, Mom, we love you!
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Beckie Parrott, sister, Betty Parrott, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by children Teresa Jensen (sons Gene & Stacey and families); Anita Nowak (Ashlee Burrows & Isaac and spouses); David Cristobal (wife Janet, kids Nick & Marcy and families); six great-grand children; brother Dick Parrott and his children Eric (Bobbi) Parrott, Jill (Gary) Moon, Anna (Shawn) Hawker and their families; extended family Norma Parrott, Larry Jensen, Bert Nowak, several cousins, and many dear friends.
Special thanks to the Filer QRU members and to the kind staff of St. Luke's Magic Valley who took care of Mom and all of us that night.
A celebration of Peggy Cristobal's life will be held Friday, October 20, 2017, at 11:00 AM at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. E., Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy's honor to Filer Quick Response Unit, Rogerson School Restoration Project care of Anita Young at Rogerson Service, or the Twin Falls County Historical Museum.
