Elaine Osuna passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2024 with her children by her side.
Elaine was born on February 27, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Fred H. Heuer and Freda Anna Heuer (Bolland).
Elaine and her five siblings were raised on the family farm in the Coltman area. They worked hard on the farm and enjoyed many family gatherings there. The family faithfully attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls, where Elaine was baptized and confirmed.
Elaine attended local schools and graduated from Bonneville High School in 1956. After High School, Elaine held several part-time jobs waitressing at different establishments in Idaho Falls and W. Yellowstone. She also attended Idaho State University for two years. While at ISU she met and married Louie Osuna in 1958, they later divorced. They had two children together, son Brent and daughter Michelle.
In April of 1960 she began her career at Westinghouse Electric at the INEL Test Site. Elaine enjoyed her job and the many friends she made during her time there. After 35 years of service to Westinghouse she retired in 1996.
During her retirement Elaine enjoyed travelling to California with daughter Michelle to visit her brother Donald, and to Las Vegas to spend time with her son Brent and family. She also was a devoted caregiver to grandson Zak.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward Heuer and sister Dorothy Moen.
She is survived by son Brent Osuna (Brenda), daughter Michelle Summers, three grandsons: Aaron Osuna (Jessica), Las Vegas NV; Lucas Osuna, Las Vegas NV; Zakary Summers, Idaho Falls ID and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Madeline Steinkamp (Martin), Idaho Falls, ID; brother Norman Heuer, Idaho Falls, ID; brother Donald Heuer, Northridge, CA.
The family wishes to thank Brio Home Health and Hospice for their care of Elaine in her last days. Brent wishes to thank his sister Michelle who unconditionally cared for our mother as her health declined.
Funeral services will be held at 10am, Saturday July 20, 2024, at St John’s Lutheran Church, 290 7th St. Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
