Marilyn Maxine Lively

April 16, 1950 — August 7, 2011

Marilyn passed away at home Sunday, August 07, 2011 after a three month battle with cancer. Marilyn was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on April 16, 1950 to Walt and Betty (Surber) Mildon. Marilyn grew up in Twin Falls and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1968. She was a dedicated State of Idaho employee for nearly 35 years. Marilyn loved and appreciated her coworkers, many of whom she considered part of her family. She enjoyed her work and the opportunities it gave her to help those in need. Marilyn married Russ Lively on August 12, 1978 and they had many years of happiness together with their children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her existence. Many times, she would hear of someone in need and would help any way she could without question, often anonymously. She enjoyed "putzing" in her yard and spending time with her family, friends, and animals. She was an animal lover and took a great deal of pride in the efforts she put in to helping animals. Marilyn volunteered during animal adoption events and devoted countless hours raising money to build a new Twin Falls Animal Shelter. One of her favorite projects was "Randy's Buddy," a one-woman operation she started after meeting a mentally ill man who inspired her to collect and distribute dog & cat food to disabled people to ease the financial burden of providing a loving home to a pet. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Russ Lively of Twin Falls; her children: Wendi (David) Heller of Escondito, California; Julie (Tim) Crawford of St. Paul, Oregon; Bill Lively of McMinnville, Oregon; and Darci (Jeff) Moreno of Boise, Idaho; and her grandchildren Mia, TJ, Tyler, Kemma, Ryder, and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt & Betty Mildon of Twin Falls, and both of her brothers: Randy Mildon and Jim Mildon, also of Twin Falls. Russ & Marilyn and their children would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Marilyn's best friend & "sister," Beverly Wojcik of Hansen, Idaho and to Cheryl and Brandi Mildon for their tireless efforts to make Marilyn's final days peaceful. The family would also like to thank Marilyn's friends & coworkers at the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare for their friendship & support. Marilyn will be missed more than words can express. In celebration of her life, there will be an open house Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at White Mortuary, "Chapel by the Park", 136 4th Ave. East in Twin Falls. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Twin Falls Animal Shelter or the Jim Mildon Police Scholarship at the College of Southern Idaho.
