Marino "Gino" Dalessi Jr.

Marino Gino Dalessi Jr., 82, passed away on the afternoon of April 4, 2015, we lost a great husband, father and grandfather when he returned home. He was born on October 31, 1932, to Marino and Rachel (Recilla) Dalessi in Holtville, California. He was an avid learner and his schooling began in San Diego, California. His college began at St. Mary's College in the Bay area, then moved on to his graduate work at the University of San Francisco. He then continued on in New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. He did research work as a chemist at the University of California San Diego. He then settled into teaching sciences at the San Diego School District in Encinitas, California. He taught school for 31 years and loved his many years of teaching, especially his students. He finished his working career as a general building contractor. He was an amazing builder, carpenter and tile setter for many years. He was married for fifteen years and had three children, Taryn (Mike) Ivie, Michael (Liz) Dalessi and Steven Dalessi. He remarried his soul mate and the love of his life Silvia and inherited three additional children, Cyndi (John) Reinhardt, Scott Jones and Russell (Marcie) Jones. He and Silvia retired to Idaho Falls in 1993, after building together one final retirement home. Some of his favorite activities were reading, photography, fishing, hunting, woodworking, furniture making, cruising to see the world and visiting and learning about his Swiss heritage. He loved spending time with his children, his eleven grandchildren and his six great grandchildren, three who lived in the area close by. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott, and numerous beloved family and friends. He will be greatly missed and he will remain forever in our hearts until we all are together again. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, corner of 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com.
