Mary Applegate Mejia

May 22, 1941 — February 5, 2014

Mary Mejia, age 72, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 10th at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Payette. Condolences may be made to Mary's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Mary was born to Hugh and Edna Mae Applegate on May 22, 1941 in Lewiston, Idaho. They later moved to Payette where she graduated from Payette High School. She then studied music at the University of Idaho. Mary worked for Payette County Planning and Zoning until her retirement in 2009. She was a faithful member of Payette Foursquare Church/The Lord's House where she served as an Elder and Worship Leader. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Zamora and her spouse, Larry, along with their children Lyndsey and Nathan of Flagstaff, AZ and Brenda Matsumura and her spouse, Jerry, along with their children, Nicole and Kara Matsumura of Ontario, OR. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Tinkerbell. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all of her friends who helped care for her during her three year battle with cancer as well as the wonderful staff at XL Hospice. They also wish to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Dan Zuckerman and all of his staff for the amazing care of their mother.
