Matilda C Kolbet

November 1, 1941 — December 18, 2017

Matilda "Tilly" Carolina Kolbet, age 76, passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Monday, December 18, 2017. Due to complications from Parkinson disease.
Born November 1, 1941, the only living child to John and Carolina Newman.
She lived in Idaho Falls all her life; only leaving for a short period to achieve her associates degree in business in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Matilda met Allan Kolbet when Allan's Uncle Ed, was working for Matilda's father farming. They were married on November 5, 1960 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Idaho Falls. They purchased a farm in Osgood, North of Idaho Falls and farmed there until their retirement. After retirement they moved back to Matilda's childhood home in Idaho Falls.
Matilda was an active member of the Idaho Falls Catholic Community, volunteered at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, lifelong member of the Idaho Catholic Council of Women. She was also honored by them as woman of the year. She also served in many capacities on the local, deanery and state levels. Also served on the advisory board at Skyline High School for two years.
Matilda will be especially remembered for ability to out fish anyone that accompanied her. She had a great tenacity that allowed her to accomplish anything she set her mind to. She loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many others who she considered family.
Matilda is preceded in death by her parents John and Carolina Newman, two sisters Francis and Baby, that passed when they were infants.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Allan Kolbet, children John (Jana) Kolbet, James (Jacqueline) Kolbet, Karl (Kim) Kolbet and Carolina Kolbet, along with many others that considered her a second mom.
Grandchildren, Brandie (Jared) Keating, Ashley (Tayler) Johnson, Korey Kolbet, Blair Kolbet, John Christensen, Hunter Kolbet, Alex Kolbet, Tyrell Herrera, Taylor Kolbet, Cody Kolbet, and many other children that loved her like a Grandma.
Great grandchildren, Marcus, Emmie, Artemys, Cassious, Taylin, Furyann, Reagan, Alex, Donovan, Maddix, Kinsey, Alex, and Brayden.
A Rosary will be recited Thursday December 21, 2017 at 6 pm at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home. Visitation will follow from 7 pm to 9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 11 am, December 22, 2017, located at Christ the King Catholic church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Interment will follow Mass at New Sweden Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Matilda's name to the Diocese of Boise in c/o of the Idaho Council of Catholic Women, 1501 S. Federal Way Suite 400 Boise, Idaho 83705.
