Max Mathews

February 15, 1931 — January 5, 2015

Max Mathews, 83, of Twin Falls passed away Monday morning, January 5, 2015 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Max was born February 15. 1931 in Idaho Falls, ID the son of Max John and Phyllis Leona Park Mathews. He graduated from Hilo High, Max attended the University of Idaho and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and soon was drafted into the Korean War. Max enjoyed many outdoor activities in his early years. He was passionate about gold mining in the mountains near Salmon, Id. Nothing was more important to Max than large family gatherings for the holidays. Politics, history and great food-always a hit with Max. Survivors include his children, Fred Mathews, Twin Falls, ID, Tom Mathews, Twin Falls, ID, Mike (Sandra) Mathews, Kent, WA, Michelle Mathews Rauer, Boise, ID. Grandchildren Peleke (Holly), Kai (Kiley), Ric, Mike, Mykleanne, Olivia, Mackenzie and Delaney. Great granddaughters, Pax Quinn and Luna. Max was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Penny.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm with funeral services held Friday, January 9th at 11:00 am at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park". The family would like to thank the staff of Ashley Manor and Visions Hospice for their wonderful care over the past year. A special thanks goes to Dr. Joseph Ippolito for his excellent vision, guidance and above all-care for our Dad. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the University of Idaho Scholarship Fund.
