Michael Edward Kunkel, 69 of Rigby passed away on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 13, 1942 to William and Annalla Kunkel. He spent his early years in Brookville, Indiana, attending grade school there. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1957 and he attended high school there. He began working early in life, getting his first mechanic job at age 14.
He married Shirley Hepler on February 11, 1966 in Phoenix, Arizona. They lived in Arizona for several years, eventually setting in their home in Rigby for the last 21 years. Mike worked in and around the areas of Rigby and Driggs for 21 years.
Michael will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed photography, leather working, fishing, hunting, family camping, and racing cars.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of Rigby, children; Tanette of Shady Cove, OR; Elizabeth, Anthony, and Brent , all of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday October 15, 2011 at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home 825 E. 17th Street. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services. All family and friends are also invited to a memorial luncheon at Tony Kunkel's home 284 N. 45th E. Idaho Falls immediately following services on Saturday.
