Molly Shigeno, 93, a longtime resident of New Plymouth, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. Molly will be placed next to her husband, Jim Shigeno at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Molly was born in Seattle, WA, May 9, 1921 to Juntaro and Emo Kitajima. She graduated in 1940 at Bothell High School. She married Jim Shigeno Dec. 16, 1945. They had no children, but all her nieces and nephews have many fond childhood memories of spending summers at their farm in New Plymouth. She lived out her last years at Edgewood Assisted Living Facility in Fruitland, where she entertained her many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Shigeno; her parents; sister, Kazue Okasaki; brothers, Tom Kitajima and Sig Murakami. She is survived by her sister, Masako Kobayashi of Los Angeles, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her niece, Janis (Murakami) Cornmesser took care of her needs to the end. Molly wanted to thank Dr. Andrew Peterson, Dr. Rhett Tipton, and Dr. Mark Christensen for their years of care. The family wants to give a special thank you to the medical team in the Critical Care Unit at St. Alphonsus who made her least days comfortable; and also would like to give a heartfelt thank you Barbara Little for her love and support to Molly and family during Molly's final hours. In accordance with Molly's wishes, there will be no memorial service. A celebration of her life will be held at the home of Janis and Ron Cornmesser at 161 SW 18th Street, Ontario, on Saturday, May 30th at 11:30 a.m.
