Onofre was born June 12, 1969 in Saucilio, Mexico to Agripino Ponce and Eloiza Franco. He spent his early childhood in Mexico and immigrated to the United States while a teenager. He attended school in Mexico and completed his education when he arrived in the United States. He spent most of his working life as a supervisor with All American Cleaning and Restoration. He was a hard working man, often working multiple shifts to help out those in need. He was loved and respected by all those who worked with him. He married Martha Ponce on September 3, 1999. Their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 28, 2005. He was a convert to the LDS Church and served in many callings, among them he served as a member of the High Council. At the time of his death he was serving as the President of the Mesa (Spanish) Branch of the Lincoln Stake. Onofre enjoyed spending time with his family, church gatherings, visiting families, and learning. He was a man of God who loved all those he met, and was loved by all. He is survived by his mother in Mexico, his wife Martha of Idaho Falls, children; Lesley Zenil, and Lily Ponce of Idaho Falls, Mathew, David, and Hayley Ponce of the family home in Idaho Falls, and his niece Briz Ponce who lived with his family, brothers Orlando, Gabriel, and Albertino of Idaho Falls, Miguel and Ipolito of Mexico, and Liborio of Aberdeen; sisters Ernestina, Petra, Olivia, Francisca, Avimelia and Camelina all of Mexico. He was proceeded in death by his father.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday August 22, 2011 at the Lincoln LDS Stake Center, 2545 Mesa Street in Idaho Falls. Burial will follow at the Ammon Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls and at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Contributions may be made to the Onofre Ponce Family Donation Fund and may be sent or taken to any Wells Fargo Branch.Onofre Ponce Franco, 42 passed away August 17, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
