She was born July 22, 1922, in Jackson to Peter C. and Sylvia I. Hansen, the fifth of six children. She was widowed by her first husband, Tommy Jensen, after 13 months of marriage. In 1945, she married James H. Yeary, then a country western musician with the nationally known Yeary Brothers. They had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in Boise, before he passed away in October of 2008. Ordeen was also preceded in death by her parents; four of her five siblings, Parthenia Stinnett, Geraldine Francis, Helen Miller and Clifford P. Hansen; and a granddaughter, Dionne Abeyta. She is survived by her younger brother, Robert; her four sons, James (Patti) of Orange, Calif., David and Thomas of Idaho Falls and Clifford (Liz) of Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughters, Michelle, Katherine and Claire; and grandson, James. She has numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Ordeen was a woman loved by friends and family for her untiring graciousness, inexhaustible generosity, keen intelligence and natural beauty. Graduating near the top of her class at Jackson-Wilson High School, she was an alumna of the University of Wyoming. She scrimped and saved money in the tightest of times by offering piano lessons in her home. Her musical forte included the ability to flawlessly whistle offerings from Mozart and Beethoven. When raising four boys became more and more expensive, she went back to school to polish her office skills and rose through the ranks in the Bureau of Land Management in Idaho Falls and Boise, beginning as a stenographer and typist but retiring in 1985 as a land law adjudicator. In her pastime, she enjoyed tending gardens, playing bridge and traveling. She was a much admired cook, inspiring one of her sons, Thomas, to be a chef and a food service manager. In a restaurant, she was most known for her insistence on paying for every meal at her table, even when she was the guest of honor. Her later years were increasingly clouded with dementia, but she never forgot to appreciate a hug, a sunny day or a small animal. Baptized as an Episcopalian, she raised her boys to be men of faith, and it is in deep faith in the resurrection of the dead that they commend her soul to her loving God and Savior. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Her ashes are to be inurned in the columbarium of St. John's Episcopal Church, 170 Glenwood St., Jackson.Ordeen Yeary (nee Hansen) of Jackson, Wyo., Idaho Falls and Boise, Idaho, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.
