He later attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He then graduated with a master's degree in psychology from the University of Denver. After college, he worked with juveniles through different government agencies in Colorado. He was a movie enthusiast and loved to take the residents he worked with at State Hospital South to the movies frequently.

Skip will be remembered as kind, caring, and humble. He was very generous and loved giving people around him special and unique gifts. He had a great sense of humor and often gave funny birthday and Christmas cards to his family.
